March 2014 Favorites

I know, I know, I haven't posted in a while. Sorry! I've been so busy this month and I can't believe it's already over! Pretty soon I'll have some pretty exciting news to announce. I've been traveling, interviewing, and getting everything in line for graduation plus having to deal with class. Whew, I didn't know the home stretch of college would be so difficult!

My favorites this month have basically consisted of springy stuff. I have been loving coral accents and have been breaking out sandals (and pedicures) a ton lately. Also I recently had to get new foundation because Sephora didn't have my Nars that I usually use, so I got Smashbox Liquid Halo. It's pretty good and natural looking (and a little cheaper), I may be posting a review later.

J.Crew Weekend Basics for Spring

Happy Sunday everyone! I was definitely glad it was the weekend, it's been a super stressful week! I've had to really get into school and I've been applying for jobs, signing up for graduation, and scheduling interviews (wish me luck!).

Later today I'm leaving on a trip to Houston for a few firm visits! I'm super excited/nervous. I'm going to try really hard to make my Tuesday post (since I was kind of slacking last week), but I'm not making any promises. Hopefully I can show you guys my interview outfits! :)

Shirt \\ Trench \\ Jeans \\ Shoes \\ Watch \\ Bracelet \\ Sunglasses \\ Bag

I love basics together, sometimes they just make the best effortless outfit, which is perfect after a long week. I love this lazy sunday look with J.Crew pieces...and I may have to stop in when I'm in Houston these next few days! :D

Simple Spring Wallpaper

I feel like I've totally been neglecting this blog for the past few days! It has been so stressful! I'm currently on a job search for after graduation (scary) and it has totally consumed me!

As a peace offering I have made a minimalistic spring wallpaper for you to use! Just in time for April! :)

To use the wallpaper, just click the link and save the full size image to your desktop! :)

I'd love to hear what you think? Will you be using this to give your computer a fresh spring update?

Jeans: Old \\ Top: H&M \\ Shoes: DSW \\ Bracelets: Tiffany's & J.Crew Factory \\ Necklace: Kohl's

I loved taking pictures outside at my pool the other day, it was making me wish I could get in! (Although it was really cold...) It's been a little chilly these past few days here (which I'm totally not liking at all!!), but I can definitely tell spring is on the way! Definitely with the fairer weather I'll be wearing more of my sweet aqua colored jeans.

Preppy Essentials for Spring

My post, Preppy Essentials for Summer, has been one of my favorite and most popular posts to date. I really like this series as well, so I thought I would start doing one each season.

As much as I love reading about essential wardrobe pieces, I often find that they are very broad (informative, but broad). I thought a seasonal spin on wardrobe essentials was important as a way to build upon the absolute basics with classic pieces that will be able to be worn multiple seasons.

Below are my essential must haves for springtime :)

It's Beginning to Feel a Lot Like Spring

Shirt: Brooks Brothers \\ Shorts: J.Crew Factory \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory \\ Shoes: Target \\ Sunglasses: Ray-Ban \\ Bracelet: Kohl's \\ Watch: Nordstrom

I'm so happy spring is basically here! Once the time jumps forward, warm weather staying for a while is right around the corner! :) I've had such a nice and relaxing spring break these past two weeks, most of it was spent at home and working on job applications, but some was spent on a shopping trip in Houston, TX. Both the shorts and shirt I got there as a jump start to my spring wardrobe and I just love them all! I wish we had a Brooks Brothers and J.Crew here, but maybe it's a good thing because I'd spend all my money!

3 Ways to Wear Spring Trends: Denim Jacket

I'm pretty sure I haven't worn a denim jacket since middle school, but I love how they're making a comeback. They're seriously the perfect casual jacket for spring, especially in the south where a trench coat can be a bit heavy.

For today's post I thought it would be fun to put together three looks with a denim jacket, it's definitely a staple that I'm going to have to pick up at some point soon this spring!

Look #1: Day to Night
Jacket: J.Crew Factory \\ Jeans: J.Crew Factory \\ Top: J.Crew Factory \\ Bag: Kate Spade \\ Sunglasses: Ray-Ban \\ Shoes: J.Crew \\ Bracelet: J.Crew \\ Watch: Kate Spade \\ Necklace: J.Crew

I love this look for going out, especially at night in the spring when it can get a little cool. The denim jacket definitely makes it a bit more understated but I feel like it makes it that much cooler for a going out look. Maybe switch out the shoes from straps sandals to kitten heels or loafers and you have the perfect transition day to night look from winter to spring.

Look #2: Sweetly Spring
Jacket: J.Crew Factory // Dress: Modcloth // Shoes: J.Crew // Bag: Modcloth // Bracelets: Kate Spade & Kiel James Patrick // Earrings: Kate Spade // Necklace: Modcloth

I feel like this would be a great outfit for a spring event, especially a day-evening one. I definitely wish I had this look last year when I went up to Ohio in May for a wedding. I was freezing at night in my dress! It's also a great way to dress down an Easter dress to make it more versatile. Just switch out the heels for some cute flats and loose some of the sparkles and voila! Perfect easy spring look or summer sundress outfit! :) Also I have seriously been lusting over that dress from Modcloth!

Look #3: Fabulous Florals

Jacket: J.Crew Factory \\ Shirt: Old Navy \\ Shorts: J.Crew Factory \\ Shoes: J.Crew Factory \\ Bag: Modcloth \\ Bracelets: J.Crew & Keil James Patrick \\ Necklace: J.Crew \\ Sunglasses: Ray-Bans

I love this casual eclectic look, with the denim jacket it's the perfect casual outfit for spring. I would totally wear this on the weekends and I feel like it would be the perfect outfit to wear out shopping, to the park, or to a spring-y picnic.

Will you be participating in the denim jacket trend this spring?

I love March. It totally feels like the light and the end of the cold and wintery tunnel. I also love playing with fashion during this month. Here in the south, I'll be wearing shorts one day...and then the next I'll be all bundled up. I'm pretty excited for this month of diverse outfit posts! :D

I'm currently on spring break (and quarter break) at school, so since I didn't have any other plans my roommate and I went down to Houston, TX for a little shopping trip (we both have family to stay with there). I was so excited because I usually have to order things online from most of the stores that I like to frequent.

My new blazer that I got is from J.Crew Factory. I really love the color and it's not something I would normally get. If you read my blog regularly you'll know that a blazer is on my spring wish-list, so while I was in the store I saw this one on sale for about $40 (like $110 off!!!). I couldn't pass up such a great deal, and I'm really excited to experiment with all the possibilities with it!

The Best Boat Shoes are the Worn Ones

I was so happy to be able to go take these picture on the ONE nice day this break. Because we're on the quarter system, our spring break is always super early. Ah well, spring will come soon enough.

I definitely was happy to get to wear shorts and I totally went all out with this nautical look. It's always a good day when I get to break out the boat shoes (Sperry's are seriously the best! They go with everything!) The little beach (sandbar) on the river was so pretty, and being able to walk around in the sand for these pictures was so fun! It made me feel like I was almost at the beach! :D

See Spring: $150 Firmoo.com Eyeglasses Giveaway

I'm so excited to announce my first giveaway on the blog! Firmoo.com, an eyeglasses company, contacted me regarding this giveaway a few days ago. As someone blessed with good vision (thanks mom and dad!), I wasn't so sure, but after looking at their product line I thought some of you preppies would love a pair from their adorable classic line!

This giveaway is for one of 5 $30 vouchers toward Firmoo's Classic Series, which features frames in a ton of classic styles and colors. My favorites are these tortoiseshell and wayfarer options. If I needed glasses (which this giveaway is making me wish I could add them as an accessory some days), I would totally wear the heck out of those tortoiseshell wayfarers (just sayin')!

I love cute glasses with the right outfit, I feel like they're such a great accessory and make someone look so smart and esteemed (the grass is always greener, right?). For now I'll just stick to my wayfarer sunglasses until I read so much I need real ones. :)

February 2014 as Seen Through Instagram

I'm not gonna lie, this month has been long and hard. I'm definitely glad it (and this quarter) is over. Also, I'm glad for the two week break I'm getting now that the month is over. Basically February has been me wishing it was spring, minus the two days it snowed and was awesome.

Despite it being a not-so-favorite month, I had some pretty good times. The snow was pretty awesome, and it was pretty cool that the week after I was wearing shorts and eating ice cream. (I feel like the only predictable season in Louisiana is summer: hot). Valentine's day was fun, even though with projects due we went out to eat and I was in bed by 9:30 (oops), but the flowers I got were gorgeous and going out to eat was a blast.

I'm super excited for March, being the start of the last quarter before I graduate I feel like it will be really chill. The hard part is over and I'm on to the home stretch. I also get to start my spring shopping...which I seriously cannot wait for! :D

How was your February? What are you looking forward to this spring?
