3 Ways to Wear White Jeans this Season

I know it's not Memorial Day yet...but who cares! After this horrid/ long winter I'm ready to break out my white denim, I got my white jeans from J.Crew last year and I wore them all the time! I'm so excited to be able to wear them again this season. Check out my favorite ways to wear white jeans:

Nautical: Jeans, Top, Scarf, Sunglasses, Bow Bracelet, Cuff, Wedges \\ The nautical look is my favorite during the warmer months (obviously...check my blogs theme). White jeans looks so fresh and nautical, especially paired with this boatneck top and anchor printed scarf. To go more casual, try a pair of Sperry's or Jack Rogers.

Chambray: Jeans, Top, Necklace, Bracelet, Clutch, Shoes \\ I love how effortless and casual chambray can look. And what better time to be effortless and casual than in the spring/summer. Now that the weather is (finally) warming up, change out those flannels for a breezy chambray tunic, white jeans, and striped loafers. The basket-weave clutch and bright statement pieces just add to the casual feel. Perfect outfit for a warm spring day spent out at the park!

Clean: Jeans, Top, Bag, Earrings, Necklace, Sandals \\ The clean white look is so popular this season and I love it! It looks so fresh after a cold winter! To keep it from being a boring monochromatic look, try a trendy peplum top with bold (white) accessories and an adorable purse. A bright lip (orange?) wouldn't hurt to liven things up either!

Perfect Park Day

Top: Forever 21 (My Roommates) \\ Shorts: J.Crew Factory \\ Belt: Old \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory \\ Bracelets: Ralph Lauren and Old Navy (Similar) \\ Shoes: Tory Burch

I've been loving this weather lately! And with only 26 days (!!!) until graduation I definitely have some major senioritis. I wish I could just spend all day out here instead of stuck in studio for four hours!

Sweater: J.Crew Factory \\ Shirt: Old Navy \\ Shorts: Old \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory \\ Shoes: Sperry Topsider (Old) \\ Bracelets: Old Navy and Kohl's

I got this sweater at the end of the summer last year and I feel like I'm just now getting a chance to wear it! Oh and that white stuff...it's cat hair. Totally didn't realize that when I took these, but I had to say "Hi" to Marie! :) I'm definitely going to have fun finding lots more ways to style it this season!

Swimsuit Season

Swimsuit season has totally snuck up on me this year! I'm not sure if it was because of the super long/cold winter or because I've been too busy to notice...but I was on the lake the other day in an old suit and realized it's time to go swimsuit shopping again! (And to start jogging more...but that's another story).

There's a ton of adorable swimsuits this year, but check out some of my personal favorites below! :)

I love love love the anchor print of the swimsuit from J.Crew Factory...as soon as I'm near one I'm totally going to be trying it on! I also love the pink seersucker J.Crew one but truth be told, I got a similar style last year online and wasn't too impressed with it. The bottoms on the pink one and the top look much better though so I may have to give it another shot...they're way too adorable not to!

Of course Lilly is one of my swimsuit favorites, with they're bright prints and colors how could it not be?

Rah Rah Designs is another designer whom I'd love to try. Aren't those monogrammed prints too cute!?! Seems like the perfect cut for an active beach goer (or lake-goer) like me! I am seriously in love with the piped bandeau and if only it had a monogram like this Americana top it would be beyond perfect! :)

And now that I've looked at adorable swimsuits for a while now I'm off to go on a nice long run for some reason... ;)

Are you looking forward to swimsuit shopping this season?

Spring has Sprung

Now that Easter is passed and I have a month of school left (forever!), I totally have spring fever (or senioritis...)! I love how green and colorful everything is and I more often than not have Ferris Buellers mantra of "How can I be expected to go to school on a day like this?" Which probably isn't the greatest thing since I need to keep my GPA up in case I decide to pursue a masters in a few years...

Top: J.Crew Factory (My Roommates) \\ Shorts: Old Navy \\ Shoes: Old Navy (Similar) \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory \\ Bracelets: J.Crew Factory (Similar) & Ralph Lauren

One of the things I'm going to miss most about not living with my best friend and roommate is having literally half the closet! When we go shopping, we totally tell each other what we will be borrowing in the future! Luckily we wear the same size because anything in the other's closet is fair game in the mornings. As a friend of ours said "I don't even ask who owns it anymore."

Anyways, I love this hot pink J.Crew top. We got this on our latest shopping spree in Houston over our "Spring Break" (it's late February so it doesn't count, even in Louisiana), and since she tried it on in the dressing room I've been trying to think of the perfect way to style it! ;)

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Easter is such a fun holiday isn't it? It signifies the actual start of spring and the promise of months of fairer weather to come. Plus there's all the hooplah of hunting Easter eggs and getting Easter baskets (which my mom totally still does for me...heck yeah!). Today I'm going to church with the family and grilling out for lunch. It's usually a laid back affair at our house followed by full stomachs and usually too much chocolate bunnies!

Skirt: J.Crew Factory \\ Shirt: Old Navy (Old) \\ Necklace: Gift \\ Bracelet: Kohl's (Old) \\ Shoes: Old Navy

For our laid back affair, I chose a rather laid back outfit, considering it's Easter and all. I feel like now that it's officially spring, I can break out the seersucker...and what a more perfect day than Easter Sunday? And I especially love my shoes, those silver wedges: $19 at Old Navy! I was so excited, especially since I've been eyeing similar ones at J.Crew (around $200) for my graduation dress! My mother warned me about wearing them before graduation, so this may be the only post with them for a while...but I figured Easter Sunday would be the perfect day to break them in! :)

Easter Dresses

I hope everyone had a good Good Friday and day off! Mine was busy and full of driving since I was in the car on the way home a good portion of the day. It's definitely nice to be home for a few days (I get to see my cats!) especially since this is my last break before the end of the year (Graduation!!).

In case you don't have your Easter outfit yet, check out some of my favorite dress picks! :)

1. Lilly Pulitzer Richelle Strapless Tie Back Dress \\ The pastels and florals prominent in Lilly Pulitzer is perfect for Easter Sunday! I love this strapless one, add a white or cream colored cardigan and some cute sandals for church and then lose the sweater for brunch! :)

2. J.Crew Factory Scalloped Shift Dress \\ I saw this dress in store and loved it! I never tried it on but I wish I had so I could've ordered it. The pink is a perfect spring-y easter dress, and it would totally be a great transition piece for summer and even into fall. I definitely think this dress would be a great Easter dress and a super versatile piece for your closet!

3. Modcloth Award to the Wise Dress \\ As usual, whenever dresses are involved I always check Modcloth...and they never fail to disappoint. I love this navy blue and white ikat dress! It looks like a really flattering shape and perfect for a preppy girl in the spring. Add a bright statement necklace and some cute wedges and it could make the perfect Easter look!

4. Old Navy Women's Eyelet Shift Dresses \\ Old Navy has had the cutest dresses lately, and I definitely was pleasantly surprised when I was perusing the store yesterday. I loved these lace dresses, they look perfect for a spring-y brunch and would be adorable for Easter egg hunting! :)

What are your Easter Plans?

April Showers Bring May Flowers

I have definitely seen plenty April Showers this April! Despite the many gorgeous days I've been loving recently, there has been a ton of super wet ones! (And a few I've gotten caught in...oops!) Which is why I thought it would be fun to show you how to dress for spring-time showers and the gorgeous result of them.

Rainy Days \\ Hunters are totally the perfect spring rain boots, especially the packable ones since they're super light and flexible. All the bright colors are perfect for a rainy spring day, I'm loving the pink, teal, and purple ones. Also Kate Spade has the cutest umbrellas (like this one with the glasses on it!! How adorable!) For rainy days I like to dress casually in light jeans, a loose shirt and rain jacket (loving the Barbour one) with a structured bag to make sure all my things stay dry.

Spring Florals \\ Not that they aren't a trend every spring, but florals are so big this year! Try combining florals for a dynamic layered look and mix prints like I did here with stripes.

What are your go to rainy day outfits in the spring? Is florals a trend you'll splurge on or pass up?

Blood Moon

I heard about the Blood Moon on the news the other day and was totally intrigued. My dad and I used to go watch lunar eclipses and meteor showers together as a kid and I even got a telescope for my birthday one year. Space is seriously super cool, and last nights eclipse definitely didn't disappoint!

For those of you who don't know, its a total lunar eclipse where the red wavelengths of light from the earth are projected onto the moon making it a orange-y or crimson color. Blood moon sounds kind of ominous though, I love how one article put it...you're basically seeing all the worlds sunsets at once. Aww. It's apparently pretty rare and we're getting a tetrad over the next year or so. There will be another blood moon eclipse in October 2014, then again April 2015 and September 2015.

NASA

The picture above was definitely from NASA, I had this great idea that I was going to take a really awesome moon picture...but then I realized that my lens only goes to the equivalent of an 80mm lens and it was freezing so we watched most of it from inside a warm car. Below is my sad little picture (but you can see Mars!)

Maybe by the next one I'll have a better lens and will be able to get a super cool picture to share. Until then, I'll enjoy the ones better photographers have taken!

Did you get to go watch the eclipse?

A New Path

So the other day I got up early (because our fire-alarm batteries were going out and the dang thing wouldn't stop chirping) and decided to take early morning outfit pictures. They came out so well that I'm using them as my graduation announcement pictures! I loved the background that I happened upon and the lighting was literally perfect... (I love it when that happens) :)

Top: Lilly Pulitzer \\ Jeans: J.Crew Factory \\ Bracelets: Kohls & Old Navy \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory \\ Shoes: Old Navy (Similar)

As much as I love perusing the website and considering all the little trinkets and accessories I have, I can't believe this is my first actual clothing item from Lilly. I got it at a boutique over break with my mother and I love it, it's super versatile and classic. I guess it's because I hate ordering online (which is probably odd considering my generation grew up with internet) but I like to be able to touch and feel what I'm buying and try it on. Also, I'm totally an impulse shopper, if I order online I have time to think through my purchase and I don't like to wait for it...so more often than not I'll decide I don't really need it (which is probably a good thing for my bank account). I sure do hope there's a Lilly store nearby in Dallas so I can grow my collection this summer! :D

Which do you prefer? Online shopping or shopping in store?

April Julep Box

Blush \\ Nail Polish: Caitlin & Mariska

I feel like I haven't gotten a Julep Box in forever, I'm pretty sure my last one was my January Box. February I was trying to not spend money and I wasn't a huge fan of March's colors. April totally made up for it though! I love these bright and springy colors and the formula is awesome (per usual). I also love how they sent a full size blush in the box as well (which is seriously the perfect spring/summer shade)!

The two nail polishes are Caitlin, which is the pink, and Mariska, which is the orange. Caitlin is described as "shocking hibiscus with gold shimmer," when I got it I thought it was matte because the shimmer is so subtle (I like subtle shimmer versus a glittery nail polish). Mariska is described as a "juicy tangerine shimmer." I totally love the bright orange, and if you're a regular reader of my blog, then you'll know that I'm basically obsessed with orange makeup right now! It's such a bright color to use after winter. :)

Don't you love the blush? It's the Glow Pore Minimizing Blush in Peach Bellini. I love the color and it reminds me of Nars' Orgasm blush (which is one of my all time favorites). I can't wait to use to it see how it compares! :)

Make sure to check out Julep's Monthly Subscription (my referral link) program!

Picnic by the Lake

It finally stopped raining! And the saying is totally true, April showers bring May flowers, my campus is so pretty and in bloom! Anyways, I've been super busy lately (per usual) but it was such a pretty day that I had to go out and capture it anyways. I love my new springy J.Crew shirt that I got over spring break, it's light and airy and pale pink gingham is too perfect for spring. :)

Shirt: J.Crew Factory \\ Shorts: Old \\ Belt: Old Navy \\ Shoes: Steve Madden (Old) \\ Necklace: Old Navy \\ Bracelets: J.Crew Factory & Old Navy

Also, I know I'm totally late on this, but the Waterlogue app is so worth the $0.99. I literally was sitting in class yesterday turning all my pictures into watercolors. Maybe I'll try an find some way to use some of the prints in my new apartment when I move...

Is it spring yet where you are?

Spring 2014 Best Shoes

This weekend, I was going to wake up early and take my graduation pictures with my roommate then I was going to be super productive, study early for my test and then (finally) take outfit of the day photos for the blog this week. Unfortunately it was cold and rainy all weekend (to the point that our ceiling leaked...ew), April Showers bring May Flowers I guess.

But instead here's some of my favorite shoes that I've been loving this spring. I'm totally wanting every single one of there (especially the silver J.Crew flats... <3)

1. J.Crew \\ 2. Gap \\ 3. J.Crew Factory \\ 4. Sperry Topsider \\ 5. Jack Rogers

I love all the metallic accents this spring, which is why I've had my eye on those J.Crew beauties for a while now. On a more casual note, the nautical canvas loafers and chambray flats are also perfect for a breezy look. I feel like a spring shoe wish-list wouldn't be complete without wedges, and I love the height and look of these Sperry Topsider ones. And while they are definitely spring/summer staples, I still don't have a pair of Jack Rogers! Definitely will be investing in a pair this season!! :D

What are your go-to shoes for spring?

Apartment Inspiration

I feel like since I applied for an apartment, I have been on Pinterest and Houzz so much looking at ideas on how to decorate my first very own space!! (So excited!) Unfortunately for me, I have Crate and Barrel taste and an Ikea budget. D: However, I totally see that as an opportunity. I think the best spaces are built up over time and it will be fun to see my apartment develop.

Anyways, check out some spaces I've been loving that I'm using as inspiration for my little loft! :)

I love the eclectic feel of this space and how they utilized every square foot in this studio. My apartment will be a bit bigger than this, but not much. I love the dresser turned console table, and I have an old dresser that I want to do this too. The square bookshelves as a room divider is a great way to add color and define space and the ghost chair is perfect (and doesn't take up space visually).

I love the contrast piping and the lucite coffee table. It's so chic. I'm looking at an Ikea sofa-bed but I'd love to have it reupholstered or a navy/white slipcover made to customize it a little bit. I love the colors here and how they pop (and those shell lamps are pretty dang adorable too!).

This is definitely the color palette I'm looking at (with more navy and less pink). I love the pink accents, it's so fun and adds so much depth to an otherwise white room.

Contemporary Bedroom by Houston Architects & Designers Montgomery Roth Architecture & Interior Design

I love this bedding, mine is similar but has a tan border and is linen, I'm planning on adding navy accents to my new bedroom, and maybe getting my pillows monogrammed in navy. Mine won't be this bright white, and will have more color, but I love the clean look and mixed patterns of this!
If I'm allowed to wallpaper in my new apartment, I'm totally doing this on one of my walls! I love the navy blue stripes, they look so nautical and preppy! (In a bathroom, it would be totally cute!)

Where do you get inspiration from for your spaces?

March 2014 as Seen Through Instagram

Whew, March is OVER and...so is my job search! I'm pleased to announce that in June I will be moving to Dallas, TX! I got to go apartment shopping today too and I found one. Everything is falling into place after this SUPER BUSY month and I'm so excited! :)

Also, check out some of my favorite moments this month on Instagram:

I know I have been a little MIA this month, but it has been because of my job search, I have had to go on interviews, traveling to Texas a lot plus also having school and keeping up with the blog. Whew. But now that I have that done I have tons of great things planned this month to make up for it (a give-a-way maybe? ;) )

What was your favorite moment this month?
