Links I'm Loving (Ikea Hacks and Affordable Decorating)

Since I'm on a (very) limited budget for a while and about to move into my first apartment (woo!) in four days, I have been scouring the internet for some great decorating ideas. Some of them are just too good not to share, so for today's post I thought I would show you some of the great ideas I've been loving! Specifically a ton of Ikea Hacks that I will be planning to attempt. I guess I've got my work cut out for me these next few weeks! Also yay or nay on this couch? I think it's pretty cute...but it is an investment...

1. Ikea Vittsjo Coffee Table Hack \\ I absolutely adore what Shannon over at Lilikoi Joy did with her Ikea coffee tables, I've seen a few hacks like this but not with the greek key and using handles is such an ingenious idea! It definitely looks like it cost much more than $100!

2. Ikea Tarva Dresser Hack \\ Joy over at City Farmhouse had the best idea with this unfinished $80 Tarva dresser. I figured it would be the perfect TV stand for my living room and maybe my boyfriend can work a little engineering magic on the top drawer to make it hold my Apple TV and internet router. Fingers crossed.

3. Ikea Lack Side Table Hack \\ I think this may be my favorite hack that I've found considering how cheap it is and how glamorous it ends up looking. Veronica over at My Hands Made It had such a great idea with this one! I totally would never have thought of it and now I can't wait to try it! It involves nailhead trim and two $10 lack side tables. You should totally check this one out! :)

I want my apartment to have a unique and custom feel to it without breaking the bank (or taking until my lease is up to finish). I can't wait to be living near an Ikea and I will definitely be taking advantage of that plus these ingenious hacks from other bloggers. I definitely don't want my new apartment to feel like you're walking into an Ikea showroom (even though it's probably as small as one!)

Have you ever tried any Ikea hacks? Any tips?

Nautical Accessories

Obviously, considering my blog theme...I have a special place in my heart for nautical inspired pieces. When the weather warms up all I want to wear is something that reminds me of the beach and the sea, and what better way to add nautical flair to your outfit than with adorable nautical accessories. I definitely like using accessories to help add a statement to classic basic pieces, and in the summer-time those mostly include anchors or nautical stripes and flags. Check out some of the pieces I've been drooling over this season:

Memorial Day

Skirt: J.Crew (Old) \\ Top: Banana Republic \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory \\ Bracelets: Old Navy & Ralph Lauren \\ Shoes: Old Navy \\ Bag: Coach Outlet (Old)

Happy Late Memorial Day everyone! I hope your day was as relaxing as mine. I was planning on going out to the pool...but by the time I finally got around to it the thunderstorms rolled in. Oh well. I definitely see Memorial Day as the official start of summer, and this was not only Memorial Day weekend for me, but my college graduation weekend too! Now that it's the end of tests, projects and homework I'm excited for three months of shorts, swimsuits, and ice cream! This Memorial Day I opted for a simple nautical/Americana look. I love my navy skirt that I got from J.Crew on sale last year, it was a great find for $40! How was your Memorial Day this year?

Graduation

Dress: Old \\ Shoes: Old \\ Belt: Express

I seriously cannot believe that it has already been four years of college! It went by so fast! I definitely wasn't ready for graduation yesterday even though it was a blast. It's so weird to think about how I'm not going back. My apartment is empty and I'm no longer roommates with my best friend. Despite all the sadness, I have so much to look forward to. Congrats class of 2014!

I feel like I've been wearing these bright pink shorts a ton lately, but they're such a fun color to play around with! I'm definitely going to have to invest in some more brightly colored bottoms! Lately I've been stealing all of my roommates clothes to get my wear out of them before I graduate, so definitely expect to see more "borrowed" clothes...it will be a big adjustment only being able to shop my own closet from now on. This is one of my favorite tops and it's not even mine! It's from Express this past winter...and if they still had it, I would totally go snatch one of my own up in a heartbeat! Oh well...

Graduation is literally two days away and I'm a mix of super excited, nostalgic, and sad. It's weird walking around campus and thinking "this will be the last time I do this..." But I'm happy to be moving onto bigger and better things! I mean, you know what they say...everything's bigger in Texas! :D

Summer Wish List

It's finally (almost) summer! The cold is gone and the breezy days of summer are here! It's been such a busy month that I haven't been able to get into the summer mood, but now that classes are over the three months of lazy summer days are seeming closer...and looking at all the cute new summer clothes sure helped! Check out my favorite pieces I'll be trying to get my hands on this summer:

Morning Runs

Since I'm moving to Dallas at the beginning of June (so excited!) and starting a new job, I felt like a gym expense may not be something completely necessary so at the beginning of this quarter I decided to start working on completing the Couch to 5K program (it's tough...). Since I swam competitively almost my whole life, getting used to running is HARD! I totally thought I was in shape until I started trying to distance run (I was quite proud of myself for running 5 minutes without stopping...I'm that bad.)

So after getting a few weeks in, my old gym shoes from high school just weren't cutting it. I had to invest in a pair of running shoes...and man, do they make a difference! Also, they're way cuter than my old gym shoes.

Check out some of my other favorite running shoes just in time for swimsuit season in the widget below! :)

Do you run? If so...any tips? Because I'm still totally a newbie! :)

Minty Fresh

Top: Borrowed \\ Jeans: Marshall's (Old) \\ Shoes: Old Navy (Similar) \\ Necklace: Express \\ Bag: Coach \\ Bow: Anchor's Away Bow's \\ Bracelet: Tiffany's

I finally got to wear my Lilly Bow that I've been keeping for the perfect spring day...and my graduation shoes that I just love too much to not wear (by this point, I've given up waiting for the big day). I love this lace top that I borrowed from my roommate, I'm seriously going to miss not being able to wear her stuff (seriously, my closet is going to be so small in a month!). I'm definitely going to have to find a similar top so I can recreate this outfit again...if you have any suggestions I'd love to hear them! Anyways, back to working on my project (ALMOST DONE!)...

Only one more week of classes for me, I can do this! I can't believe this is my last finals week for...forever! It's definitely been a stressful quarter and month, but I've almost gotten through it. I have my very last test today and my very last project due on Friday. Wish me luck! :)

How do you handle finals week?

Mother's Day

Shorts: Old Navy \\ Shirt: Banana Republic \\ Shoes: Old Navy (Similar) \\ Bracelets: Old Navy & Ralph Lauren \\ Necklace: J.Crew Factory

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! I wish I could be home with my mom, but I unfortunately can't this year. I've been crazy busy this week and next week is my last week of classes (forever!). For my mom this Mother's Day, my brother and I went out and took pictures with my camera. She's been wanting good pictures of us and since I'm about to move I figured it would be nice to have a picture of my brother and I together. Anyways, I framed it and will bring her flowers home when I see her next for a belated present.

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

With Mother's Day this Sunday, I felt an appropriate post for the day would be some great last minute gift ideas for mom. If you're like me, Mother's Day totally snuck up on this year! I guess being at the end of the quarter and right before graduation it made it really easy for me to forget. My mother told me not to worry much this year (of course I am), but since I'm about to start working she expects something awesome next year! ;)

Are you doing anything special for your mom this Mother's Day?

Pretty in Pink

I love Sundays, for some reason they're always way more relaxing than Saturdays. Maybe its because you know you have to go back to work or school on Monday so you have to get every bit of relaxing in possible. I especially have been loving them recently. With the school year winding down and the perfect weather lately all I've been wanting to do is spend my Sundays outside! Also, I love my monogrammed earrings that my mother got me for easter! How cute are they!?

I swear at the time of taking these pictures there was a severe weather alert...no joke. Like a tornado warning or something...and in my defense rain-boots would have been totally appropriate for that! One of my favorite color combos right now is navy and black, I know they're not supposed to work together, but I think they totally do! I guess I will have to save this outfit for an actual rainy day! Oops!
