Apartment Decor: Table Lamps

I love going and getting new pieces for my apartment, it's really fun watching it all come together. I still have along way to go but this weekend I finally got barstools (hello Ikea). I'm pretty sure my kitchen island is one of my favorite things about my apartment so it was a really exciting weekend for me!

Anyways, more and more my apartment is starting to feel like mine and not just and empty room with things everywhere. I'm most definitely on a budget so I can't get everything I want all at once (sadly), but the next thing I'll be investing in is some great lamps to set the mood!

Lighting is definitely one of the most important parts of a space. It can totally change the look and feel of the room with just a click. Also, due to commitment issues, every piece of furniture I have is either white or neutral, so table lamps are a great way to bring in some color with out having to commit a few hundred dollars to a certain color scheme.

Check out some more of my favorite lamps from One Kings Lane:

How do you light your space? Which are your favorite table lamps?

Lots of Lace with Noa Elle

When the summer months roll around all I dream of breezy lacy fabrics and light or bright colors. I'm pretty sure I swear off jeans for the entire 3 months (5 months if you live in Texas). Anyways, lately I've been a little obsessed with lacy tops and dresses and SHORTS...oh how I want a pair of lace shorts...

Which is why I'm super excited to share with you a new brand I discovered: Noa Elle. The girls over at Noa Elle and 2Tee Couture e-mailed me asking me to check out their brand and I love it. I've never heard of them before but I'm sure I've ran across their clothes in boutiques as there's tons of places that carry them in the Dallas area.

Described as a bohemian fashion brand, what really drew me to Noa Elle are all the pretty lacy dresses and shorts. I could totally see myself wearing any of these out by the pool or at a summer party sipping mimosas (ahh... I can dream right?).

Anyways, be sure to check out their adorable look book and see if there's any carriers near you! :)

Which lacy looks are your favorites?

Work Bags

Now that I started a big girl job I realized that my small Coach shoulder bag just isn't going to cut it anymore. I need a nice big bag to carry all my things in, I love the classic structured ones. Check out some I've had my eye on below! :)

Top to Bottom: Kate Spade \\ Rebecca Minkoff \\ Tory Burch \\ Kate Spade \\ Michael Kors

Which one is your favorite?

Sunday Stroll

Top: J.Crew Factory (Old) \\ Shoes: Old Navy \\ Shorts: Express \\ Bracelets: Kohl's & Old Navy \\ Necklace: Old Navy

Now that I don't have homework I should be frantically getting done before class on Monday my Sunday's can be what they're supposed to be, nice and relaxing. I'm having so much fun walking around the city. There's so much to do and so much to see! I definitely found the cutest place to go shopping yesterday (and I totally will be going back as soon as I get paid...)

How are you spending your Sunday?

Black and Blue

Top: Old Navy \\ Shorts: Forever 21 (Old) \\ Shoes: Old Navy \\ Necklace: Kohl's \\ Bracelet: Tiffany's

I FINALLY have internet! Sorry guys for the slight hiatus, I figured I'd have internet before yesterday and didn't schedule enough posts ahead. Oops. Anyways, and update: I'm all moved in and loving it here! I love my apartment even though I'm still working on it (it'll be a work in progress for a while). I feel so cool actually using my degree and what I learned in college at my new job. Today's outfit I'm showing you what it'd wear for a night on the town, which is totally happening this weekend for my boyfriends birthday.

Hi everyone! My name is Amanda Barba – I am a fellow blogger within the Her Campus Blogging Network, just like Courtney. I blog over at The Trendy Times am a huge fan of the Daughter of a Son of a Sailor just like I’m sure many of you are! That being said – us HCBN bloggers love to help one another out here and there so I’m here to do just that by guest posting on Courtney’s blog!
Hope you enjoy it and don’t forget to check out, The Trendy Times or any of my social media linked above xo

Without further ado, here's her post on how to style crop tops (which is great because I'm totally scared to try this trend!!)

Suns out and you know what that means – high waisted shorts and crop top season is upon us, ladies! Who doesn’t love a good crop top now and again, am I right? However – as much as we all love rocking the crop tops, are we all doing it in the right manner? Of course, fashion is in the eye of the beholder and your style, is your style but there’s definitely a fine line between right and wrong when it comes to rocking a crop top. If done right the look is to die for, if it’s done wrong it’s just no good. I’m here to show you 3 ways you CAN rock a crop top! Let’s get into it!

Look 1 – Crop Top & A Skater Skirt

I absolutely love this duo - a crop top and a skater skirt! It gets better with the fact that the top is lace and the skirt is leather – could you just die?  This shows a little skin, keeping it sexy, but the top is a high neckline and doesn’t reveal too much further. It’s the perfect outfit for a holiday party or even a date if you wanted to be a little more daring! Love this look!

Look 2 – Crop Top & High Waisted Jean Shorts

It doesn’t get more basic than this outfit my friends – every girl owns a pair of high waisted jean shorts that she either made, or bought to make it look like she did, that she loves to pair with her crop tops. It’s the perfect combination for so many different occasions. I love when people rock this look to concerts – it’s perfect, and comfortable, exactly what you want for longer events. It may not be appropriate for all events, but for more casual summer days and nights you have yourself a winning outfit with the crop top and high waisted jean shorts! Love, love, love!

Look 3 – Keeping It Conservative As Possible with a Crop Top

Yes – you can be conservative in a crop top. Pairing it with a high waisted, longer bodycon skirt leaves you looking sexy and covered up. This is the perfect outfit for any more fancy night that may require a lot of pictures to be taken and a lot of faces to be seen. You are covered up in a crop top – magic. Perfection!

As mentioned before – your style is your style. So that being said, wear what makes you feel beautiful and comfortable. At the end of the day it’s not what you’re wearing but how you wear it. Own your outfit – the streets are your runway; ladies (and gents, of course) so act like it!
