Wear Now & Later: Summer to Fall Transition Pieces

ONE || TWO || THREE || FOUR || FIVE || SIX || SEVEN || EIGHT || NINE || TEN || ELEVEN

It's so hard for me to see so many adorable items hitting stores this time of year knowing I'm not going to be able to wear them (without drenching them in sweat) for at least another month! I feel like I never have anything to wear in September - I either look like I'm headed to the beach (I wish) or I'm hot all day long in long sleeves and layers. This year I'm determined to be better about stocking up on transitional pieces to carry me seamlessly from summer to fall.

Pom Pom Clutch

One trend that I have been obsessing over this summer has been pom poms (see my favorite pieces   here!), so when I found this fun  clutch that has been all over  Instagram I knew I HAD to have it. I love the whimsical feel that the pom poms brings to this bright, summery outfit; this clutch is perfect for dressing up a casual summer outfit for a brunch date or cocktails on a patio!

Happy Sunday! I'm getting this post up a little late today because I've been laying around and sleeping in - so I'm just assuming you all are doing the same! It's actually starting to cool off a little here in Dallas and making me super excited for fall! Its getting to that point in the summer when I'm over all the summer styles and I'm ready to cozy up in a sweater and watch college football (2 more weeks! Geaux Tigers!), unfortunately "cooling off" in Dallas, TX means the high is 85 not 105...hardly sweater weather.

The ability to transcend seasons is one thing that I love about this fun, feminine midi skirt, it's definitely a great transitional piece for your wardrobe whether it's worn with tights or a crop top. I've styled midi skirts for cooler weather  here and  here.

Summer Vibes

Unfortunately, this year I don't have any summer vacation plans. I didn't think it was that big of a deal until all my coworkers constantly ask if I'm taking any time off and then look at me sadly when I say no. I guess I'll just have to plan sometime really fun next year to make up for it! That being said, with all the fun prints around stores this summer....I sure can pretend to be on vacation!

I ran across this top at H&M, and for under $25 I just knew I had to add it to my closet! It's such a fun palm tree print to finish out summer in. It's currently sold out online - but, I did see it in store this past weekend, so if you have an HM near you go grab one!

Trend Alert: Pom Poms & Tassels

With all the NSale goodies I've been getting at my doorstep lately it's hard to imagine that there's still a month left of summer! That is until you step outside here in Dallas. This summer I've been all about  bright prints, tassels, and pom poms. They're just SO fun! I'll definitely be taking advantage of the time before labor day to go totally overboard on island inspired styles!

I am in love with the Chinese Laundry sandals, and they have been on my summer wish list since May. Unfortunately whenever I run across them I never seems to find them in my size! Maybe you'll have better luck than I do. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out for the rest of the season...maybe they'll be on sale closer to Labor Day! One thing I did have luck in finding, was the pom pom clutch. It is so perfect for brunching with friends or after work cocktails. It definitely adds a bit of fun and whimsy to any outfit!

Do you guys ever have that one thing that you just have to have, but can't find anywhere? That has been me with an animal print clutch. I have been wanting a leopard clutch for SO long but I haven't been able to find an affordable dupe, and as gorgeous as it is, I just couldn't bring myself to spend almost $300 for the  Claire V. version ( mine is UNDER $50!).
